Safety Groups

Choosing a Novo SST safety group means you’ll be part of a truly more effective prevention mutual!

WHAT ARE SAFETY GROUPS?

A safety group is a group of employers who unite and work together to prevent workplace accidents with the aim of reducing their contributions to the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST).

THE HIGHEST PERFORMING GROUPS AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET

ovo is a leader in the Quebec safety groups market. Why? Simply put, it’s because our safety groups are the highest-performing available on the market. Our members enjoy savings that can reach up to 60% of their CNESST premiums.

Our expertise as a leader in occupational health and safety (OHS) is well-established. This is why hundreds of Quebec companies do business with us. We’ve created five different safety groups to meet the specific needs of every employer.

FIVE NOVO PERFORMANCE SAFETY GROUPS

Novo’s success is based on the annual ranking of its members in its Novo performance safety groups. These aim to group together similar risks in order to achieve the particular safety group’s objectives. We therefore offer five safety groups and a transition group to help you achieve maximum profitability:

•  Novo Plus
•  Novo Excellence
•  Novo Sélect
•  Novo Défi
•  Novo Solution

NOVO PLUS

The Novo Plus safety group is for large companies that perform well in managing their OHS file.

Why Prevention?

  • To protect your employees and reduce the number of accidents
  • Prevention creates an environment that improves the performance of organizations and, in turn, of safety groups
  • The CNESST is increasingly involved in compliance monitoring
  • An employer and its directors are subject to the new Criminal Code, amended by Bill C-21, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (criminal liability of organizations)

FIVE LEVELS OF PREVENTION MANAGEMENT

The prevention index is what we use to assess company’s OHS performance and safety management in order to ensure a better management of their OHS file.

This index is determined by 15 actions from the Prevention Plan and marked out of 5. This index guides employers towards a better management of their OHS file in order to reach the level of excellence one step at the time.

NON-SAFETY GROUP COMPANY

Even if our analysis does not enable you access to a safety group, we have a solution for you.

WHAT IS A NON-SAFETY GROUP COMPANY?

At Novo, being a non-safety group company means that you’ve been excluded from a safety group, or you don’t yet have the experience required to join one, but will benefit from professional support and advice with a view of joining one later.

Therefore, companies that aren’t members of a safety group can also benefit from services to help them take control of their OHS file and thus comply with their employer obligations.

We’ve implemented two products for companies who are waiting to join a safety group. Depending on your company’s file, Novo will direct you to the solution best suited to your needs.

TWO PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE

  • Transition group: perfect for companies in the process of improvement
  • Pre-saftey group: for companies who are waiting to join a Novo safety group

Transition Group

The Transition Group is not a safety group. Rather, it is a solution enabling companies with unfavorable OHS experiences to clean up their files.

PRE-SAFETY GROUP

You must join a safety group by September 30 at the latest in order to be eligible by January 1 of the following year. During the interim period, Novo will help you manage your OHS file.
